Max Clini
Co-Owner
About Max Clini
Max Clini is a visionary entrepreneur with an impressive track record of success in the world of healthcare in Hawaii. Max’s roots run deep in the state he calls home. His mother was born and raised on the island of Kaua’i and met his father in Italy where they settled to start a family. At the age of 16, Max moved to Oahu to attend and graduate from Kamehameha Schools. This decision helped to shape his strong sense of community and build his exceptional resilience and grit necessary to survive and succeed in the world of entrepreneurship.
After completion of his BS in Business Administration in Utah, Max returned to the islands to pursue his MBA in 2001. He spent the next decade refining his commercial and finance skills, working in various positions at the two largest banks in Hawai’i. While working in corporate structures, Max’s desire for entrepreneurship continued to burn brightly as he pursued a number of smaller projects. Eventually, in 2009, he landed in the world of healthcare, where his strong will to improve processes could best be leveraged. In 2014, he opened the doors to Hawai’i’s most innovative PET/CT diagnostic imaging facility in the state. In a short 4 years, the vision to bring ‘best-in-class technology to Hawai’i crystallized and the first fully digital Philips PET/CT scanner in Hawai’i was installed. This new tool reduced cancer patients' scan times by up to 90%, whilst also diminishing their radiation exposure.
Undeterred by the impressive success of the diagnostic center, Max’s passion for improving the condition of those who need it most led him to a new challenge: finding better ways to treat pain and reduce the prescribing of opioid-based treatments. In 2019, Max acquired WorkStar, the largest occupational health clinic to make a positive impact on our underserved communities. In a short 5 years, the practice grew from one clinic site on Oahu to six locations with a presence on all major Islands. As a result, WorkStar is now the most competent and largest Pain Management practice in Hawai’i, a place of healing where conservative treatments are helping thousands of patients reduce and eliminate their opioid medication dependence.
While business accomplishments are important for the positive impact these changes make on our local communities, the most prized treasure for Max is his family. He is blessed and humbled to be working together with his wife and is very proud of the young men his two sons have become. The spare time is filled with friends, laughter and some poorly executed surfing and golf sessions.
